Heading Back Home and Hoping to Return Next Month

At about 3 a.m. this morning, Paul talked to someone who is very knowledgeable about Ukranian adoptions (thanks to a friend who adopted a girl from Ukraine earlier this year) that felt like the possible moratorim on int'l adoptions might be postponed. We discussed our options with our case manager in the U.S. and our facilitator in Ukraine and for many reasons decided to go back to the U.S. and come back next month. So this morning we made our next appointment with the State Dept. of Adoption for Jan. 25 to fit our facilitator's schedule. Then we quickly called the airlines and were able to make it on a plane heading to Frankfurt, Germany at 2:00 p.m. It was close, but we were so happy to make it. We are disappointed that we are returning home without a child, but are hoping that our timing might be better next month after their holidays. They celebrate Christmas on Jan. 7 and things usually shut down for the first two weeks of the month. We are thrilled to be home to celebrate Christmas and our twins' birthday on Jan. 7, plus Paul has to get back to work since he's been off for three weeks. This may have been the most stressful thing we've ever been through together, but we have gotten closer to the Lord, which makes it all worth it. We are counting on being able to return next month without a moratorium on int'l adoptions. Please be praying with us that this will be the case! We hope that Paul's parents and sister will be able to stay with our kids since my parents will be away on a mission trip. We appreciate the support of our family in this so much! We are also thankful for the people have been following this adoption journey, praying for us, and e-mailing and posting words of enouragement to us. It meant so much to us and kept us going!!! We will give an update if anything changes, but for now we are planning on returning to Ukraine on January 23 to adopt a little girl (or boy if there are still no girls available:)!
